Desmistificando a Vacinação: Um Relato de Experiência

Introduction. The National Immunization Program (NIP) is a world reference in the offer of free vacines for the Brazilian population. Even so, it is evidenced a decrease in the vaccination adhesion, mainly among children and the young people, in the latest years. In this context, the action “Demystifying the Vaccination” was produced aiming at the awareness of the importance of this practice for preventing diseases in the population. Report. The action was held in a public school in XXXXXXX city and targeted at an audience in the beginning of the adolescense, and it counted on the participation of 532 students of Junior High School. The work aimed at influencing positively the formation of the students of that school as citizens, showing the collective and individual importance of immunization through the discussion of the theme from a base questionnaire. Also, for the students of medicine, it promoted the opportunity of keeping a direct contact with this younger public, in an educational perspective. Discussion. The great majority of the students in debate demonstrated a good background knowledge, participating actively of the discussions. The channel of information dissemination allowed go beyond the organizers and the target public, spreading to the participants’ families and acquaintances, generating then a collective awareness of the achieved community about the vaccination and the tackle to Fake News around the subject. Conclusion. The proposed action estimulated the vaccination practice among children and Young people, besides making them spreaders of knowledge and scientific evidences. The light and ludic format of the discussion collaborated with a better understanding by the students and yet contributed to the exercise of a better communication of the university students with the younger individuals.
