Introduction: Despite the National Curriculum Guidelines for the undergraduate course in Medicine demand the teaching of clinical and surgical knowledge throughout graduation, the surgical area is not enough explored and integrated into the contents, especially at the beginning of the course. Therefore, a symposium was idealized with the proposal to deepen the anatomical content contextualized to clinical and surgical practice. This work aims to report the experience with the symposium, stimulating events that contribute to the understanding and consolidation of anatomical knowledge applied to surgery. Experience report: Based on the perceived demand, the “I Symposium on Anatomy Applied to Surgery” was conceived, with speakers from areas such as General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, among others. There were a total of 8 lectures from different specialties, divided over the 4 days of the event broadcast by the Stream Yard platform. The symposium had 8 coordinators and reached 1071 subscribers through intense dissemination on social networks. Discussion: Through the activities carried out, the event's ability to guarantee practical knowledge about human anatomy was noted, converting students' disinterest, mainly caused by the way this topic is approached in traditional studies, into enthusiasm. The consolidation of knowledge, through contextualization with the daily surgical correlations presented at the event, contributes to the student's understanding of the subject and guides their learning in a critical way. Conclusion: The Symposium fulfilled its objective of arousing interest in human anatomy, mainly focused on the surgical area, contributing to the expansion of the realization of more activities on this topic. Considering that the event ensured a provided fixation of knowledge, other similar initiatives should be developed in order to promote activities on anatomy in a practical way.
