FELON DISEASE: A CASE REPORT
Keywords:
Soft Tissue Injuries, Soft Tissue Infections, Staphylococcal InfectionsAbstract
Introduction: Felon is a type of hand infection and one of two types of subcutaneous infection that affect the fingertip, the other being paronychia, which can evolve into Felon. Other possible causes of this infection are penetrating trauma from sharp objects, and the isolated pathogen is usually Staphylococcus aureus. Case report: This report documents a case of Felon in a 44-year-old woman, with emphasis on the management employed. Discussion: The correct diagnosis and adequate initial management of Felon are extremely important to avoid complications that are difficult to control, such as osteomyelitis, which can culminate in limb amputation. Conclusion:
Given the lack of descriptions of cases of Felon in the literature, reports like this have the potential to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of similar future cases.
