Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To know the clinical and epidemiological profile of women treated at an outpatient school of gynecology, in addition to characterizing the consultations and verifying if there were changes in the profiles between the years analyzed.

METHODOLOGY: Cross-sectional analytical observational study through the analysis of medical records of a university outpatient clinic, in the second semesters of 2019 and 2020.

RESULTS: 291 women were included, with a mean age in years of 38.12 in 2019 and 40.46 in 2020. Of these, 46.4% had comorbidities, with a correlation between hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism in 2020. In 2019, 65.9% had children, with an average of 2.49 children per patient, while in 2020, 75.2% had children with an average of 2.04 children. The use of oral contraceptives decreased from 29.9% in 2019 to 19.4% in 2020. Condom use was reported by 28.5% of patients in 2019 and 27.9% in 2020. As for mammography, 96% of the patients had performed it in the last 2 years and 93.6% had undergone oncotic colpocytology in the last 3 years. The most common complaints, according to age groups, were routine, pain, abnormal uterine bleeding and climacteric. The diagnoses were routine, candidiasis, vaginosis, climacteric, myoma and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), with a greater presence of PCOS in 2020.

CONCLUSIONS: It was possible to identify the profile of the patients and characterize the consultations, observing a greater presence of PCOS, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism in 2020, with a decrease in the use of contraceptives that year, which is important to outline improvements in care for this population.
